Washington Redskins vs. Chicago Bears: Bears Favored at Home

This Sunday the Chicago Bears will look to get back on the winning track when they host the Washington Redskins. The Bears suffered their second loss of the season last week, as they fell to the Seahawks 23-20 at home.

The Redskins are also looking for a win this week, as they dropped a close one to the Colts 27-24 on Sunday Night Football. If you are thinking about betting on the game this weekend, the current NFL odds have the Bears favored by three points over the Redskins at home.

Washington (3-3)

The Redskins continue to find themselves in close games, as they have only had one game this season decided by more than five points. The Redskins offense got a nice performance from backup running back Ryan Torain, as he ran for 100 yards and two touchdowns, breaking numerous tackles. Quarterback Donovan McNabb struggled for most of the game, completing just 29 of 45 passes for 246 yards with just one touchdown and two interceptions.

Defensively, the Redskins recovered three fumbles but really hurt themselves with missed interceptions, as Carlos Rogers dropped two easy picks and safety Kareem Moore dropped another. The Redskins defense continued to keep the game close despite giving up 469 yards of total offense. They are currently dead last in the NFL, allowing an average of 421 yards a game.

The key for the Redskins this week will be to put as much pressure as they can on Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, who continues to hold onto the football and take sack after sack.

Chicago (4-2)

After starting the season with three straight wins, the Bears have not looked good at all in their past three games. The offense managed just one touchdown against the Seahawks, and if not for a 89-yard punt return by Devin Hester, the score would have been much worse.

Chicago continued to struggle when running the football, as they managed just 61 yards on the ground. Cutler threw for 290 yards but was just 17 of 39 passing. He was sacked six times, including one that resulted in a safety for the Seahawks. If Cutler continues to take sacks at this rate, the Bears offense stands little to no chance of moving the football.

Defensively, the Bears didn’t look all that good either, as the Seahawks ran for 111 yards and and passed for 242. Chicago didn’t force a single turnover and couldn’t make a stop when needed. If they allow the Redskins to move the ball with that much ease this weekend, they are going to have a real hard time winning this game.

Looking at the Odds

I think you have to take the Redskins at plus three in this game, as I think the Bears have really been exposed the past couple weeks. They can’t do anything offensively with the way the offensive line is playing and Cutler’s inability to get rid of the football. Washington should at least be able to move the ball through the air, and I think they come away with a pretty easy win.

My final score prediction is Washington 24, Chicago 17.
