What Does Matt Forte’s Injury Mean for Chicago Bears, Fantasy Owners?

Matt Forte went down with an ankle in the Chicago Bears‘ Week 12 contest against the Minnesota Vikings, thus adding to the injury frustration for fans in the Windy City.

Here’s what Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune said regarding Forte’s availability moving forward:

The injury bug has once again infested Lovie Smith’s team, as Devin Hester, Lance Louis and Chris Spencer were hurt against the Vikings as well.

It’s almost as if Chicago can’t catch a break on the injury front.

Jay Cutler returned from a concussion and played tremendously against a good divisional opponent, proving that, with their starting quarterback and running back in the lineup, the Bears are an extremely dangerous team.

But without those two available at the same time, Chicago hasn’t demonstrated a capability to play with the better teams in the league, which isn’t surprising.

If Forte is out for a few games—potentially with a high ankle sprain that’s common in the NFL—the Bears’ season could be doomed. Three of their final five games are within the division, and a matchup against the Seattle Seahawks will certainly be a tough test.

If nothing else, the team would like to have him back for Week 15’s clash with the Packers in Green Bay, which certainly isn’t out of the question.

From a fantasy perspective, owners must closely monitor the severity of Forte’s injury and look to add or swing a trade for Michael Bush—a guy who already receives a good deal of Chicago’s goal-line carries.

Armando Allen is the team’s third-string runner, but he was only given one carry against the Vikings after the Bears’ first-teamer went out.
