The clock continues to tick on Terrell Owens.
As the future Hall Of Famer looks for a team in 2010, we can add the Chicago Bears as a team that will not be interested in his services.
Bears quarterback Jay Cutler once again expressed his interest in his curious group of receivers, and though he thinks Owens can be a good contributor, he feels it’s better to stick with the current core.
“Good guy, but I’m still gonna stay where we are receiver-wise and say we’re good.”
Many reports linked Owens to Chicago, as he was spotted with Cutler and tight end Greg Olsen.
Ouch. Owens was dismissed by the Bears, a team where the receiving corp was one of the weakest parts of the team.
Sure, they are young, and most likely will improve, but it wouldn’t have hurt for them to bring in a veteran guy who would likely get 1000-plus yards receiving and around 8-12 TDs as an old vet.
Yet again, Owens seems to have worn out his welcome at most NFL clubs. That appeared to be the case last year before the Buffalo Bills gave him a chance.
Now, with training camp approaching, it seems that Owens will have to hope for an injury to a starter in camp in order to get a job.
Owens is in a league of his own right now, with the likes of Isaac Bruce and Muhsin Muhammad calling it quits.
Owens may not think he’s ready to give it up, but most of the league clearly feels different, especially at his current price tag.
So in the end, the years of problems that Owens caused may result in his exit out of the National Football League.
