Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers are heading to the Windy City Sunday to take on Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears.
The Chargers started the season off strong and have taken a turn for the worst as the season progressed with a four game losing streak, their longest since going 0-5 in 2003.
Rivers has been having a particularly off season. He has the 3rd most sacks (25) and the most interceptions (15) in the NFL. The team is currently tied with the Eagles and the Redskins for most turnovers (21).
Part of the despair has to be caused by all of the injuries the team has been plagued with, including the most recent Marcus McNeill, Kris Dielman and Louis Vasquez.
The Bears on the other hand, are on a four game winning streak. Matt Forte is currently the league’s 3rd leading rusher. The team has currently forced 20 turnovers.
Julius Peppers, the Bears Pro Bowl defensive end, was looking healthy in practice this week and should be cleared to play on Sunday. Peppers is great at putting pressure on the QB, and should have a field day with Rivers.
It will be interesting to see how many times Devin Hester will score a touchdown off a punt return or Matt Forte will run it in for one. Regardless, it seems that the All-Stars of this game will be the home team.
